Biography

I was born in Akalan Town of Acıpayam district of Denizli, Turkey in 1959. My love of music, which started in my primary school years, continued increasingly in Germany, where I moved when I was a child. I learned to play the bağlama (Turkish music instrument) with my own efforts. In the later years of my career as a musician, I met local and foreign musicians during my stage and orchestral studies. Names such as Özay Gönlüm, Neşet Ertaş, Talip Özkan, Bedia Akartürk, Ümit Tokcan, Kazım Alkar are among the musicians I had the honor of meeting. I have shared the stage with some of these important musicians In addition to the music I performed in the style of "From Arabesque to Zeybeks", I also composed compositions. In 1988, one of my compositions was included in the instrumental album of a German music company. This composition was broadcast on German radios intermittently for more than a year. In 2011, a famous Turkish musician performed the song "Pekmez," which I composed, and it was featured in his album.
I have 11 existing works registered in the professional organizations GEMA and MESAM. In 2017, at ST-Yapım Music Company in Istanbul, I recorded four of my compositions as Maxi Single with some of Turkey's most acclaimed instrumentalists. Three video clips of my music works, which are still available for purchase on music platforms such as Amazon, Deezer, Spotify and iTunes, are available on YouTube.
I am honored to share the products of my 45-year love with music with you, my dear friends and art enthusiasts.
With love and respect,
Mehmet Söyleyici
